UV Competitive is a full-season team program where dancers spend the season immersed in multi-faceted training while experiencing what it means to perform and compete alongside a team. Dancers train multiple hours each week across choreography, foundations and performance, preparing for competitions, conventions and other opportunities throughout the season.

Our Competitive program is grounded in the UV Method—our approach to developing strong, versatile movers while encouraging individuality and artistry.

ROSTER

Learn, develop and perform choreography while training alongside a team and preparing for competitions throughout the season.

Build foundations, skills, movement quality and performance while developing the versatility and confidence to take on increasingly challenging work.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Competitive dancers commit to the full season September - June, with consistent attendance expected throughout training, rehearsals and performances.

  • Teams attend approximately 4–6 competitions each season, with dates and locations communicated to families in advance.

  • Some competition, convention and training opportunities may require travel. All competitive dancers compete in two local and two Edmonton competitions.

    Our Advanced/Pro dancers attend one competition in a major North American city each season.

  • Competition fees, costumes, travel and select additional opportunities are separate from monthly tuition.

FAQ

  • No! Newbies are welcome :)

  • Yes there are additional competition fees such as competition registration fees, costume fees and travel fees associated with out of town competitions. This Fee Information can be requested at info@universesouldance.com.

  • There are auditions in June and typically August/September where our faculty will place students in the appropriate competitive level. Some students join us with several years of experience and some are brand new! It depends on the dancer.
