CODE OF CONDUCT

UniverseSoul Dance reserves the right to suspend participation or terminate enrolment at the discretion of the teacher or Studio Director due to misconduct, repeated poor attendance, or failure to meet program expectations.

Examples of unacceptable conduct include, but are not limited to:

Repeatedly missing rehearsals or classes, except in cases of illness or emergency. School, work, or personal scheduling conflicts are not considered emergencies, as rehearsal schedules are communicated in advance.

Disrespectful, disruptive, or inappropriate behaviour toward other students, teachers, teaching assistants, or staff.

Failure to follow UniverseSoul Dance rules, policies, and studio guidelines.

Sexual misconduct, harassment, bullying, or any behaviour that violates the studio’s zero-tolerance policy.

Incidents of serious misconduct will result in immediate removal from the studio and a full internal review. Fees up to and including the final month of participation remain payable. UniverseSoul Dance reserves the right to terminate enrolment if a student engages in behaviour that raises concerns regarding honesty, maturity, safety, or moral character.

CONDUCT

To ensure a focused, respectful, and safe learning environment, students are expected to follow studio etiquette at all times:

Students must arrive prepared with indoor dance shoes, water, and healthy snacks.

Cell phones must be silenced and not used during class or rehearsal unless explicitly instructed for class-related purposes (e.g., filming choreography).

Only water is permitted inside the studio. Food must be consumed in the lobby or designated areas.

Absences, lateness, or early departures must be communicated in advance to both the teacher and Studio Director via WhatsApp or email.

Only registered students, teachers, teaching assistants, and staff are permitted in studio spaces during classes and rehearsals. Visitors may be invited for demonstrations at the discretion of the instructor.

CLASS ETIQUETTE

ATTENDANCE

Consistent attendance is essential to respect teachers, teammates, and individual growth. All scheduled classes and rehearsals are considered mandatory.

Injured students are encouraged to attend class to observe and stay engaged. Students are responsible for reviewing class videos and catching up on missed material.

Students who are unwell but without a fever may attend to observe class.

Missing will affect a student’s eligibility for performances, competitions, or placements.

  • Two (2) consecutive rehearsals - students will not be blocked into sections of choreography or be removed from parts of choreography

  • Five (5) rehearsals in a season - students will removed from the group (There are roughly 25 rehearsals to their first competition, missing 5 is 20% which is UV’s threshold)

No Make-Ups for Personal Absences: Students are responsible for catching up on missed classes due to personal reasons. Class videos will be provided, and students are expected to review material independently and coordinate with classmates as needed.

All lateness, early departures, and absences must be communicated via WhatsApp and email.

Late students must complete the Late Warm-Up in the lobby before joining class:

  • 50 Jumping Jacks

  • 50 High Knees

  • 50 Butt Kicks

  • 50 Jump Squats

Families are not permitted to schedule vacations or travel during the designated blackout periods as important studio events will occur within these dates.

Competitive Season:

  • December | Mid Year Show

  • March - Mid June | Competitive Season and Year End Show

Training Season:

  • December | Mid Year Show

  • June | Competitive Season and Year End Show

NO TRAVEL/VACATION DATES (COMPETITIVE AND TRAINING ONLY)

SICK POLICY

The health and safety of our community is a priority. Students should not attend class if experiencing any of the following:

Stay Home If You Have:

  • Fever

  • Vomiting within the past 24 hours

  • Persistent or severe cough

  • Diarrhea within the past 24 hours

  • Rash accompanied by itching or fever

  • Eye infection, redness, or discharge

Students May Return When:

  • Fever-free for 24 hours without medication

  • Vomit-free for 24 hours

  • Cough is mild and infrequent

  • Diarrhea-free for 24 hours

  • Rash or eye infection has resolved, or at least 24 hours after beginning antibiotic treatment (if prescribed)

If unsure, please consult a medical professional. Health and safety take priority over attendance.

EVALUATIONS, PLACEMENT AND COMPETITIVE READINESS

Students may be evaluated periodically for placement in classes, competitions, and performances. UniverseSoul Dance reserves the right to reassign students to groups where they and the team can best succeed, based on skill level, attendance, commitment, and overall fit.

Competitive students are expected to practice their routines outside of scheduled studio time in order to maintain progress and retain choreography, formations, and performance details. It is the responsibility of both the student and their family to support and uphold this expectation.

If a competitive student consistently demonstrates a lack of preparation leading up to competition (such as repeatedly forgetting choreography or continuing to make the same uncorrected mistakes), the instructors and directors reserve the right, at their discretion, to remove the routine from the competition lineup.

Please note that all competition fees and tuition payments are non-refundable, regardless of participation in the competition.

LOST PROPERTY

UniverseSoul Dance is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property. Students are encouraged not to bring valuables to the studio. Any items left behind may be discarded or donated at the end of each month.

UniverseSoul Dance encourages creative projects and community involvement beyond the studio environment. Participation in out-of-studio projects is voluntary and undertaken at the participant’s own risk.

The studio is not responsible for any losses, injuries, or damages incurred during out-of-studio projects.

Students under the age of 18 must obtain written permission from a parent or legal guardian prior to participation.

All participants are expected to follow safe, respectful, and responsible practices at all times.
